This is about beta content!

This article or section is about one or more features from an upcoming release of Jets of Time. The information presented is still subject to change. The content on this page should be re-verified once it has been released.

Bucket List

Bucket list is a redone & expanded version of the older Bucket Fragments options. Players can configure a set of 1-8 objectives, with 1-8 required.

By default objectives unlock the bucket in the End of Time. This also grants double TP & XP after unlocked, and the bucket leads to a boss rush of Mammon Machine, Zeal 2, Inner Lavos, and finally Lavos Core.

Alternatively, reaching all the configured objectives can immediately win the game.

Other go modes can be disabled, forcing the objectives to be the only route to the end, with or without the immediate win flag.

Objectives

Objectives can be set in two ways, simple and advanced. In the web generator, the options shown in the dropdown for objectives are the simple mode presets, but an advanced mode string can be typed in manually if preferred. To see all simple preset options, clear the text field first.

Simple Mode

In simple mode, a fixed list of options is given for each objective; each option corresponds to a specific advanced mode objective, which is provided in parentheses.

  • Random (65:quest_gated, 30:boss_nogo, 15:recruit_gated): 65/100 chance of “Random Gated Quest”, 30/110 chance of “Random Boss (No Go Mode Dungeons)”, 15/110 chance of “Random Gated Character Recruit”
  • Random Gated Quest (quest_gated): One of: Charge Moonstone, Turn in Jerky, Clear Arris Dome, Clear Factory, Clear Giant's Claw, Clear Ozzie's Fort, Clear King's Trial, Clear Pendant Trial/Prison, Clear Reptite Lair, Clear Sun Palace, Clear Sunken Desert, or Gain Epoch Flight (in Epoch Fail)
  • Random Hard Quest (quest_late): One of: Mt. Woe or Geno Dome
  • Random Go Mode Quest (quest_go): One of: Clear Zeal Palace, Clear Twin Boss, Clear Death Peak, Clear Giga Mutant Spot, Clear Terra Mutant Spot, Clear Elder Spawn Spot, or Clear Magus Castle
  • Random Gated Character Recruit & Recruit a Random Gated Character (recruit_gated): One character pickup, someone who appears in one of: Castle, Dactyl Nest, Proto Dome, or Frog's Burrow spot
  • Random Boss (Includes Go Mode Dungeons) (boss_any): One boss anywhere in the seed.
  • Random Boss from Go Mode Dungeon (boss_go): One boss who appears in Death Peak, Black Omen, Magus's Castle, or Zeal/Ocean Palace. (Note Tyrano Lair is excluded as it only requires Dreamstone, not a full go mode).
  • Random Boss (No Go Mode Dungeons) (boss_nogo):One boss anywhere in the seed not including the spots listed above.
  • Recruit 3 Characters (Total 5) (recruit_3): Recruit 3 characters, to have a total of 5.
  • Recruit 4 Characters (Total 6) (recruit_4): Recruit 4 characters, to have a total of 6.
  • Recruit 5 Characters (Total 7) (recruit_5): Recruit 5 characters, to have all 7.
  • Collect 10 of 20 Fragments (collect_fragments_10_10): 20 Bucket Fragments will be distributed throughout the seed in chests. Collect 10 to meet this objective.
  • Collect 10 of 30 Fragments (collect_fragments_10_20): As above but 30 fragments instead of 20.
  • Collect 3 Rocks (collect_rocks_3): Collect 3 rocks of the 5 available.
  • Collect 4 Rocks (collect_rocks_4): Collect 4 rocks.
  • Collect 5 Rocks (collect_rocks_5): Collect all 5 available rocks.
  • plus most-to-all of the specific bosses, quests, and recruits – see the advanced mode for lists of these, which should map fairly clearly to the simple mode presets

Advanced Mode

In advanced mode, each objective is chosen based on a string that defines the probabilities of different kinds of objectives or specific objectives. A string is composed of one or more combinations of an optional weight plus a required objective. The available options fall into 4 categories: boss, quest, recruit, and collect, each of which have subcategories and options of their own, detailed below.

More examples will be shown below, but one example string would be 65:quest_gated, 30:boss_nogo, 15:recruit_gated, the “Random” simple mode preset. This would give a 65/110 chance of getting a random “gated” quest, a 30/110 chance of getting a random boss in a pre-go-mode dungeon, and a 15/110 chance of getting a “gated” character recruit.

Boss objectives

Boss objectives can either reference predefined groups of bosses or specific bosses, and each objective will require beating one specific boss.

The predefined groups are:

  • boss_any, which can choose any boss in the seed
  • boss_nogo which chooses a boss before go mode
  • boss_go which chooses a boss only accessible after reaching a go mode (specifically, a boss that appears in Death Peak, Black Omen, Magus's Castle, or Zeal/Ocean Palace – Tyrano Lair is excluded since it requires only the Dreamstone to access).

Alternatively, specific bosses can be given a probability by adding their name after boss_ (for example, boss_golemboss or boss_terramutant). Full lists of specific available bosses are at the bottom of this page; in general, simply remove spaces/punctuation and turn all lowercase.

Quest objectives

Quest objectives instead require completing a specific quest, such as defeating the boss in a specific spot or finishing a particular other task. Once again, there are predefined groups that the randomizer will choose a random option within, as well as the option to specify a quest.

The predefined groups are:

  • quest_free (Cathedral, Heckran, Denadoro, or Zenan)
  • quest_gated (Charge Moonstone, Turn in Jerky, Clear Arris Dome, Clear Factory, Clear Giant's Claw, Clear Ozzie's Fort, Clear King's Trial, Clear Pendant Trial/Prison, Clear Reptite Lair, Clear Sun Palace, Clear Sunken Desert, or Gain Epoch Flight (in Epoch Fail))
  • quest_late (Mt. Woe or Geno Dome)
  • quest_go (Clear Zeal Palace, Clear Twin Boss, Clear Death Peak, Clear Giga Mutant Spot, Clear Terra Mutant Spot, Clear Elder Spawn Spot, Clear Magus Castle)

Specific quests can also be requested, such as quest_northernruins, quest_pendant, etc. Full lists are, again, at the bottom of the page.

Recruit objectives

Recruit objectives require recruiting a specific character or character spot.

Predefined categories:

  • recruit_any: one random character; will appear as e.g. “Recruit Crono” or “Recruit Marle”
  • recruit_gated: one random character who appears in the Castle, Dactyl Nest, Proto Dome, or Frog's Burrow spot; will appear as the character as above

Recruit objectives can also be specified as a specific character or specific spot. For example, recruit_crono to pick up Crono, or recruit_proto to pick up the Proto Dome character. In the latter case, when specifying a spot, the objective will be listed as e.g. “Recruit the Proto Dome Character”, not as the character that appears there.

Finally, recruit objectives can require a certain number of recruits: recruit_3 to require recruiting 3 characters (for a total of 5), 4 (total 6), or 5 (all 7).

Collect objectives

Collect objectives can be used to require specific numbers of rocks or bucket fragments.

For rocks, specify a number to collect, e.g. collect_rocks_3

For fragments, specify a number of required fragments and a number of extra fragments to place in the seed, e.g. collect_fragments_10_20 will result in “Collect 10 of 30 Fragments”.

Objective Sub-option Lists

Many allow multiple strings, but only one is listed. If one is not listed, remove spaces and punctuation and turn all lower-case for the appropriate string (e.g. “Atropos XR” becomes “atroposxr”)

Advanced Objective Examples

The simple mode presets serve as some examples of advanced objective strings, but don't show much of the available complexity.

Some additional examples:

  • Multiple types of objective can be included in one objective slot, e.g. 90:recruit_gated, 10:boss_nogo, which would mean a 90% chance of a gated recruit and a 10% chance of a non-go-mode boss.
  • Strings can be basically as long as desired and the weights need not add to 100 (or any particular number), e.g.: 50:quest_gated, 10:quest_late, 10:quest_free, 30:boss_nogo, 10:boss_go, 20:recruit_gated, which would give N/130 chance of each of the listed types.
  • The weight is optional, and when not included is set to 1. However, if one category has a weight, all within the same string must have a weight.
